What is a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA)?
A WABA is the business-level account for assets used on the WhatsApp Business Platform. It is not the same as the free WhatsApp Business mobile app. A WABA relates to owned phone numbers, message templates, business identity and permissions. Ownership and authorization should be verified before any software attempts to send customer messages.
WhatsApp Cloud API onboarding requirements
Production integrations generally require a suitable Meta Business Portfolio, an authorized WABA, correctly granted app permissions, a business-owned sending phone and registration. Meta Embedded Signup offers a customer-led way to authorize the correct business assets; clicking a Connect button does not automatically give a vendor permission to use any number. Real signup and app review remain pending for TryDataverse.
Phone registration, two-step verification and permissions
After the WABA is connected and its phone is verified, Meta's separate Cloud API registration endpoint uses a six-digit two-step verification PIN. The TryDataverse private backend has a protected owner/admin registration action with rate limits and no PIN persistence. It does not claim the business number can send until Meta confirms authorization, phone health, callbacks and real deliveries.
From WABA to the first compliant customer message
Before launching a WhatsApp API campaign, a business should obtain meaningful recipient opt-in, choose an applicable approved message template and language, verify sender status, then test delivery receipts and opt-out handling. The 24-hour customer-service window matters for free-form replies; it is not permission to send unsolicited promotional broadcasts.
Meta Cloud API vs customer-owned developer API
Meta Cloud API is the provider messaging service. TryDataverse's REST API is an independent application layer that manages tenant contacts, campaigns, approvals and integration permissions. A customer using the TryDataverse API still needs an authorized Meta sender and must follow WhatsApp's rules. The public production API is not yet activated.
